Fort Lee, New Jersey officials have recently passed an ordinance prohibiting smoking in Fort Lee’s outdoor restaurants and cafes.

Under this new ordinance, no-smoking signs must be clearly posted at outdoor restaurants and cafes in Fort Lee and indicate that violators are subject to a fine. Violators will have to pay a minimum of  $250 for a first offense, $500 for a second offense and $1,000 for subsequent offenses.

Fort Lee borough officials banned smoking at all public parks and recreational facilities and imposed similar fines for such violations back in May of 2014.
