As the first cold snap of autumn arrives and the fall foliage explodes in a burst of color, many local families will begin planning their annual pilgrimages to Pennings Farm Market.

A Family Affair

Jake and Johanna Pennings started farming in Warwick, NY over 50 years ago and owned several dairy farms around the town. They had 10 children together who were all born and raised in Warwick. The four surviving brothers- Jack, Steve, Dick and Richard bought Pennings Orchards from the Parker family in the 70s and started a UPick apple operation. Today Jack’s son Jackie and his wife Monica run the UPick operation with their two daughters Kaelyn and Cammie. The Farm Market is owned and operated by Steve and his wife Jill with the help of their children Stephen and Tori.

UPick Apples & Pumpkins, Hayrides and More

The 60+ acres of apple orchards at Pennings Farm Market offer over 15 varieties of apples for picking beginning September 5th. The U-Pick season also features hayrides, pumpkin picking, pony rides, a kiddie coral with children's games, barnyard buddies, painted pumpkins, kid treats like ice cream and kettle corn, live music, outdoor dining and more. Farm Market

One of the highlights of any visit to Pennings Farm is a stop at the incredible farm market. Locally made products from over 30 local vendors include fresh baked pies, apple cider donuts, bread, cookies, jams, jellys, honey, cheeses, meat, cheese, free range eggs, produce, dairy products, handmade soaps, honey, and more. You'll also find a large selection of fall offerings including gords, cornstalks, pumpkins and mums.

Garden Center

Another must-visit spot at Pennings Farm Market is the garden center. Open daily from April through December, this fully stocked garden center has everything to fulfill your lawn and garden needs including annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, mulch, soil, pottery, outdoor furniture, and seasonal items.

Beer Garden, Pub & Grill

How many fall family farms feature their own beer garden? Well, Pennings Farm Market does! Open May to November, the Pennings outdoor beer garden/bar offers craft beer, wine, hard cider, live music, picnic table seating, and lawn games. All in a kid-friendly environment! The pub specializes in American craft beer, beer on tap from local breweries (made with Penning's own hops) wine and Pennings' own hard cider. The menu at the grill changes seasonally to incorporate local ingredients and gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options including a selection of salads and sandwiches, quesadillas, hamburgers, hotdogs, chili, soup and more. On select weekends they even have food trucks offering other cuisine options.

The Holiday Season

Pennings Farm Market is a busy place during the holiday season. They sell free range turkeys and pies for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas trees and holiday wreaths. The farm is open all fall holidays, closed Thanksgiving afternoon, Christmas Day and New Years Day.

There is a full parking lot in the front of the farm market. To go apple picking, cars may drive into the orchard and park in one of several parking lots in the actual orchard.
