Creative Cook’s Fresh Citrus Cranberry Sauce Recipe

You can’t celebrate Thanksgiving without cranberry sauce, and this recipe from Bergen County’s Creative Cook puts a tangy twist on the holiday staple by using orange juice and zest. Enjoy!

What you need

  • One 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice (plus one tablespoon of orange zest)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt

What you do

  • Bring water, juice, and sugar to boil.
  • Add washed cranberries and the zest.
  • Return to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and use a potato masher to smash larger cranberries.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.
