Fall Harvest Festival of Farm Life in the 1800s at Garretson Forge and Farm in Fair Lawn

Bring the family out for a day of fall fun at this annual living history event celebrating Dutch farm life as it was lived in the Civil War era. The Garretson Forge & Farm Fall Harvest Festival takes place on Sunday, October 13, from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.

The Festival features activities for all ages including:

  • Broom-making demos, using broom corn grown at the farm;
  • Tours of the homestead as it was in the 19th century led by costumed docents;
  • Study reading and math as taught in the 1800s at the school house;
  • Tour the colonial garden with a Master Gardener;
  • Talk to Civil War re-enactors about a soldier’s life;
  • Special activity for children: make leaf rubbings and Autumn wreaths to take home.

Garretson harvested produce and plants will also be available for purchase including jam and hardneck garlic.

The volunteers of Garretson Forge and Farm Restoration make this festival possible. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. For more information, visit garretsonfarm.org. Garretson forge and Farm is located at in Fail Lawn, New Jersey.
