Garden Club of Harrington Park November Meeting: Stone in the Garden

NNJ Gardening News

The Garden Club of Harrington Park (GCHP) will hold its monthly meeting via Zoom on Thursday, November 5th at 7:30 pm.

Guest Lecturer Arnie Friedman will present “Stone in the Garden”, a pictorial review of the many ways that natural stone can be integrated into a garden to compliment the plantings and to add long lasting functionality to an outdoor landscape.  Arnie will discuss the many different varieties of stone available in the Northeast as well as how stone surfaces and details should be sited for their best effect.  You will also look at various stone projects such as patios, walkways, stream bed, water features and more.

Arnie, a Master Gardener and former instructor at the New York Botanical Garden, is a landscape designer with certificates in design and horticulture.  He owns Landscapes by Design, LLC, a landscape design and construction company.  His design services encompass entire landscapes with stonework, water features and gardens, to small intimate plantings, fire pits, and seating walls, and to solving issues like excess storm water or old out of control gardens.

Arnie enjoys teaching, lecturing and writing articles on design, sustainability issues and water design and management.  He is the president of the Association of Landscape Designers, New York Chapter, a member of the Upper Saddle River Planning Board, and past president of the Bergen County Master Gardeners.
