Muslim Heritage Celebration in Fair Lawn

The Fair Lawn Muslim Community (FLMC), a New Jersey non-profit organization, will host a Muslim Heritage Celebration event on Sunday, January 19, at the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm. Admission is free!

The community is invited to attend this interactive event and educational experience designed to highlight the rich cultural traditions of 15 Muslim-majority countries. 

The celebration features:

• Cultural Exhibits: Explore displays representing various countries, showcasing traditional clothing, artifacts, and crafts.
•  Performances: Enjoy live performances, including traditional music, dance, and live calligraphy.
•  Food: Traditional cuisines from different regions will be available for sampling and purchase.
• Interactive Activities: Family-friendly activities such as henna art, a photobooth with colorful cultural props, and a unique VR experience taking you back in time will be available throughout the day.

This celebration will foster a deeper understanding of the diversity within Muslim cultures and create an opportunity for community members to come together in the spirit of learning and unity.

“This event is a unique opportunity for people of all backgrounds to experience the beauty and diversity of Muslim heritage in an interactive and enjoyable way,” said Waseem Mohammed, one of the organizers. “Our goal is to promote cultural understanding and celebrate the contributions of Muslim communities in an inclusive environment.”
