Mark Borst Named Industry Trailblazer

Mark Borst, founder and president of Borst Landscape & Design in Allendale, New Jersey, has been honored as a Trailblazer by The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). This is the second time Borst or his company has been recognized by PLANET for excellence in the landscape industry. Borst, who is also a PLANET Landscape Industry Certified Technician, is one of only three landscape professionals nationwide to earn the Trailblazer designation in the Design/Build/Installation category. He recently received the Trailblazer award at PLANET’s Green Industry Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

“To be recognized by my colleagues in the landscape industry is truly an honor,” said Borst. “I look forward to helping other landscape professionals develop and deepen their knowledge and skills in the design/build sector of their businesses.”

PLANET’s Trailblazers represent an elite group of dedicated industry professionals who were nominated by their peers for making significant and long-term contributions to the green industry in the areas of lawn care, design/build/installation, interior plantscaping, and landscape management. Individuals who are selected for this lifetime honor are committed to giving something back to the green industry; each Trailblazer sets aside one day per year to provide on-site mentoring to a PLANET member. This peer mentoring and networking program allows both emerging and established companies to gain insight and advice on how to develop and grow their businesses. Borst was cited for his longevity and success in the landscape and hardscape arenas, as well as his long-standing commitment to giving back to the community.

Borst Landscape & Design was founded in 1989 and has grown to comprise several distinct divisions to serve its residential and commercial clients throughout northern New Jersey. Since 1995 the firm has been at the forefront of sustainable lawn and tree care with the launch of Borst Organic®. In 2009, Borst Landscape & Design was the Grand Award winner of PLANET’s 40th Annual Environmental Improvement Awards.
